Ann's actions
At Home
Make Green Cleaners
I will make 5 of my own cleaning products (cleaners, detergents, soaps) instead of buying them in new spray bottles each time.
Food
Skip Single-Use Plastic for Freezing Food
I will use reusable containers when freezing food and opt for glass or metal when purchasing new containers.
Food
Buy Unpackaged Produce
I will avoid 2 plastic bags each shopping trip by not bagging my produce or using reusable produce bags.
Plastics 101
Read Plastic-Free Challenge emails
I will read through the three emails each week to learn more about plastic and get ideas on how to use less.
Plastics 101
Avoid Harmful Plastics
I will avoid buying toxic plastics, including polyvinyl, polystyrene and polycarbonate (#3,#6 and #7).
At Home
REUSE TRASH BAGS BEFORE PURCHASING NEW
I will reuse existing bags such as pet food bags, grocery bags, or online shopping bags to line my trash bins (or go without plastic liners) and offset using as many new bags as possible.
Plastics 101
Watch a Documentary
I will watch a documentary film about plastic waste with family and friends and talk about what we learned.
Participant Feed

Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Ann Allison 2/03/2025 12:03 PMI have been working for 2 years to decrease plastic coming in to my home or using it in the community. I was glad to find out my plastic footprint is fairly low, but it is still too much considering what we have done to the environment.
