Jim's actions
On-the-go
Refill travel toiletries
If traveling, I will reuse my old travel tubes to refill with my soaps or only bring bar soaps with me
Plastics 101
Complete a waste audit
I will spend 60 minutes conducting a waste audit- including recyclables and compost- to understand how much plastic waste I create and where I can reduce the most.
Food
Cook Meals with Zero Plastic Waste
I will prepare 2 meal(s) at home each day without using any items packaged in single-use plastic.
Kids
Make Thoughtful Toy Purchases
I will buy cloth, wooden or plant-based natural rubber toys. Or I will make my own toys from repurposed items found in my home!
Community
SUPPORT BUSINESSES PARTICIPATING IN MNIMIZE
MNimize works to reduce single-use plastic at food service businesses. I will visit a participating location or tell a business I frequent about the resources available to them.
Personal Care
Use Plastic-Free Beauty Packaging
I will use beauty products that come in plastic-free packaging or refillable packaging.
On-the-go
Use reusable to-go containers
I will use a restaurant's deposit system for reusable cups and/or takeout containers.
Food
Shop the Bulk Bins
Each trip to the grocery store I will purchase 4 products from the bulk section using my own containers.
At Home
Plan a Garden
I will plan an herb or vegetable garden for next year at my home, workplace, or community garden.
Plastics 101
Avoid Harmful Plastics
I will avoid buying toxic plastics, including polyvinyl, polystyrene and polycarbonate (#3,#6 and #7).
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONKids Make Thoughtful Toy PurchasesDoes your child play differently with natural or repurposed toys than with other toys? If so, how?
Jim Borisevich 2/16/2024 3:36 AMHe does not, and that is the great thing about a child's mind, it is endless in imagination. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Shop the Bulk BinsHow has buying bulk impacted the quality of the food you receive? Why do you think our society relies more on prepackaged foods rather than buying in bulk?
Jim Borisevich 2/09/2024 9:43 AMI think pre packaged foods are sought after because it it "easier" and less time consuming. I find it cheaper and more cost effective to purchase in bulk. -
Jim Borisevich 2/09/2024 9:39 AMHope everyone has good weekend!
