Plastics 101
Stop "wishcycling"
Contamination makes the recycling process more difficult. I will review which materials are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my county and recycle only those items.
Food
Cook Meals with Zero Plastic Waste
I will prepare 1 meal(s) at home each day without using any items packaged in single-use plastic.

Leo Carnes 2/09/2026 2:11 PMThroughout this challenge, even though I have been terrible at keeping up with posting here and check-ins, it has made me reflect a lot more on my waste. Simple things like bringing your own bags or always having extra reusable bags in the car ACTUALLY add up. BONUS: reusable bags feel way nicer, can hold more, and can have a cool design.
Why use a boring plastic bag when you could use this?-

Leo Carnes 2/04/2026 11:41 AMI learned what "wishcycling" is. I do feel guilty about doing this sometimes without even thinking about it. Something that you would think is recyclable is not always. It is important to learn what goes where and to do proper research.-
Chris Kostelec 2/06/2026 1:01 PMYeah man, it totally feels counter-intuitive to throw away plastic but if it's truly not recyclable it's better to trash it. Definitely something I've had to learn.
