REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonal Care Switch to a Plastic-Free ShaveWhat has been your experience with switching to a plastic-free razor? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors?
Krina Damien 2/29/2024 4:00 PMI bought the razor but haven’t tried it yet. I’m a little nervous! But I’ll try it soon!-
H McCrillis 2/29/2024 5:00 PMGood luck!

Krina Damien 2/28/2024 12:41 PMWe're leaving on vacation tomorrow and I'm trying to think of what to pack to decrease plastic on our trip. Reusable water bottle, reusable coffee cup, reusable utensils, shampoo/conditioner bars/soap... I'm only bringing a carry-on, but if anyone has any other good recommendations, please share!-
H McCrillis 2/29/2024 5:40 PMBon voyage! Sadly, I have no additional tips.

REFLECTION QUESTIONPlastics 101 Watch a DocumentaryWhich documentary did you choose to watch? What did you learn?
Krina Damien 2/27/2024 7:29 AMWe started watching "Trashed" on Amazon Prime. We didn't finish it yet, but hope to finish in the next week. There were a few things that really impacted us in the first part of the documentary. One thing was the size of the landfills in all parts of the world. They are ginormous!! Another thing was how close they are to towns/cities/schools/water. It's gross. Lastly was how landfills have changes so much in the last 100+ years, going from animal-based and natural products, to plastic-based and hazardous waste products. I can't believe how brainwashed we've all become to think that when we throw something away that it magically disappears and doesn't leach back into our water, our plants, our food...-
H McCrillis 2/27/2024 11:44 AMTrue. It’s amazingly concerning the amount of disconnect most of us have to how things are made and the all the costs - besides financial- involved in the process.

Krina Damien 2/26/2024 5:51 PMI wrote this before the challenge started, but I'm going to repeat myself since we have more people now that might be interested:
For you Starbucks lovers out there...
For those that don't know, if you bring a reusable cup to get your favorite beverage in, you get $0.10 off. PLUS, you get 25 stars, which is a free espresso shot, flavor shot, or nondairy milk!
So, for a soy chai, I not only saved a cup, but I also saved $0.80!-
H McCrillis 2/27/2024 12:15 PMWhoo-hoo! 🥳🤑. I wonder if other coffee houses have similar offers….🤔☕️

Krina Damien 2/25/2024 7:55 PMWe swing by the toy library and then got together with some friends (plus kids) today. We brought our toy library toys with us and got to pass along the toy library info to our friends :) Such a good way to reduce plastic!-
Laurie Kilfoy 2/25/2024 8:27 PMIt’s so great that you have access to a toy library. It’s wonderful that you utilized it! I wonder if other regular libraries couldn’t incorporate a little bit of the toy library essence within their existing walls… at least for early childhood ages.

Krina Damien 2/24/2024 11:24 AMI went to brunch with a friend this morning and brought my own container for leftovers 😊 I also chatted with her about the challenge and she’d like to get her office involved next year! Hooray for more people trying to reduce plastics! -
Krina Damien 2/23/2024 11:56 AMI just purchased a whole bunch of seeds for my imaginary garden lol. Tomatoes, peppers (sweet and hot) and zucchini. Add these to the herb seeds that I recently procured and I just gave myself a lot of work to do this summer! I better start planning where exactly I'm going to plant these things! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAt Home Plan a GardenBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Krina Damien 2/23/2024 7:21 AMI think it might be fun for my son to see process of planting seeds and watching them sprout. He really enjoyed when we grew mushrooms this winter! Also, I just love the taste of fresh tomatoes and it's not always easy to get to the farmer's market these days. My husband loves making new salsa recipes, so I think adding some peppers this year will be a wonderful addition too! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPlastics 101 Recycle Plastic CapsWhat are some things you can do to avoid using plastic bottles and plastic caps in the first place?
Krina Damien 2/23/2024 7:17 AMI've greatly decreased the use of plastic bottles by bringing a reusable cup with me when I go places. How could I do a better job? By remembering to bring one for my toddler! He gets thirsty at the most inopportune times sometimes!
Also, by trying to purchase in glass or aluminum containers, or refilling containers at the bulk store. For instance, maple syrup, olive oil, canola oil, and spices. Super easy to refill in the bulk area at the co-op or at Tare Market.
