How does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?

To be honest it doesnt really make me feel more connected it kind of does the opposite because of the garbage I pick up all the time

I live in a windy area / development, and I usually pick up what I believe to be from peoples overfilled recycle bins, (plastic bottles, paper, cardboard), so yes, I dislike that its there but I do believe it comes from a positive in regards to a lot of people take recycling seriously in my neighborhood.

I agree. It just makes me disgusted that people litter. I have, though, thought that in winter particularly, stuff must fall out of people's laundry baskets on their way home from the laundromat or wherever they wash. I've found single washcloths, single socks, underwear. Or stuff falls out of cars as people get out - most likely at night - ear buds, small tech cables, stuff like that, or hats, single mittens. Hard to imagine that these are willingly discarded. But there's no excuse for tossing half-full plastic drink cups and bottles, or any kind of cans or glass bottles.

Did you find anything at the store that you didn't expect? What was it, and did you find it useful?

Besides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?

reducing carbon emissions (from driving to store/back, using bags if i forget mine at home) reducing risk of over contaminated produce e.g., ppl touching, chem sprays, chem from commute to MN store in winter. benes having what i want when i want, being able to smell my favorite smell whenever and that is a carrot plucked fresh from mother earth...smell it next time oh so dreamy
