At Home
Skip the Dryer Sheets
I will replace dryer sheets with a reusable alternative or use nothing at all.
At Home
Extend the Life of Electronics
Manufacturers want you to replace your phones every year. I will keep my phone for at least 3 years and make any necessary repairs or updates to keep it functioning as long as possible.
At Home
Plastic-Free Caffeine Routine
I will cut single-use plastics out of my morning drink by switching to reusable coffee pods, tea infusers, and bulk beans or tea leaves.
At Home
Choose Natural Clothing Fibers
I will purchase clothing made with natural fibers, such as cotton, linen, or wool, rather than synthetic fibers like polyester, nylon, acrylic or spandex. Try prioritizing buying used clothing before buying new.
At Home
REUSE TRASH BAGS BEFORE PURCHASING NEW
I will reuse existing bags such as pet food bags, grocery bags, or online shopping bags to line my trash bins (or go without plastic liners) and offset using as many new bags as possible.
At Home
Ditch the Disposable Cleaning Wipes
I will replace my disposable cleaning wipes with a reusable brush or cloth.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAt HomeWhat are some of the challenges or benefits you have experienced using reused bags instead of a bag purposely designed to hold trash?
Ayanle Gedi 2/08/2026 4:36 PMOne benefit is that it reduces waste since I’m giving plastic bags a second use instead of throwing them away right away. It also saves money because I don’t have to buy as many trash bags. It makes me more aware of how much plastic I’m using overall.A challenge is that reused bags can be thinner or weaker, so they sometimes tear more easily. They also aren’t always the right size for the trash can, which can make them a little awkward to use. But overall, I feel like the environmental benefits outweigh the inconvenience. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAt HomeHow has removing your single-use plastics impacted your caffeine routine?
Ayanle Gedi 2/08/2026 4:35 PMRemoving single-use plastics has definitely changed my caffeine routine a bit. Instead of grabbing coffee in a disposable cup, I bring a reusable mug or make coffee at home. If I stop somewhere, I try to use my own cup instead of taking a plastic lid and straw. At first it took a little planning, but now it feels normal. I waste less, save a little money, and it makes me more aware of how often I used to rely on convenience. Overall, it’s been a small change that’s had a positive impact. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAt HomeHow have you modified your cleaning routine to make sure you aren't using disposable wipes? Are you satisfied with the results?
Ayanle Gedi 2/08/2026 2:44 PMI stopped buying disposable wipes and started using reusable rags and microfiber cloths instead. I keep a spray bottle with cleaner and just grab a cloth when I need to clean something. After I’m done, I throw the cloths in the laundry instead of the trash.I’m pretty happy with the results. They clean just as well, and I feel better knowing I’m not creating as much waste. It was a small change, but it made a difference.
