This has been a great challenge to learn about new methods to reduce my plastic consumption. I am eliminating plastic like tupperware for storing food, getting rid of non-stick cookware to eliminate BPA consumption and talking to my friends about how they can reduce their plastic use. It's made a difference!!! Keep the learning going.

In what ways is supplying your pet with all natural pet toys better for your pet, better for you, and better for the environment?

Natural pet toys keep the chemicals away from your pet. You never know what impact chemicals will have on their bodies, so I err on the cautious side.

It's healthier, if ingested by mistake. I think the break down in the plastics would be more harmful to our pets long term.

What items do you keep in your kit? What steps have you taken to help make this a habit and remember to bring your kit with you?

I have a small box with knife, fork, spoon, chopsticks and a cloth napkin that I bring with me daily. IT's easy to keep in my lunch bag and use daily to eat at work.

I had a girls weekend and we stayed at a BNB that did not have composting. I saved all the organics from the weekend, brought them home and put in my home compost bin upon return instead of throwing in the trash. We also saved the pineapple trimmings from fresh pineapple and I brought those home and am making fermented pineapple tepache with them. IT felt good to make the extra efforts and my friends supported me in my efforts. They also are doing their part to reduce plastics. They did not bring boxes of plastic bags like they have in the past. They brought containers instead. Let your friends know you are working on reducing plastic.

Used fabric coated with wax. Works great. Keep a bunch in my drawer where I used to keep the roll of plastic wrap.

Plant based does not always mean better. I see plastic that says "Made from Plants", but it's still plastic and still does not degrade into compost. Keep trying.

I have begun to make cashew milk to replace coffee creamer and drinkable beverages. I buy all ingredients in bulk: cashews, dates, vanilla, salt, maple syrup. I store the cashew milk in glass jars I have repurposed and use for bulk storage.
This process removes plastic containers I would have purchased with these products.

We live in a walkable neighborhood which means we can walk most everywhere within 15 minutes. We walk to our co-op for groceries several times a week to buy essentials for the next few days mean preps. This grocery trip gives us exercise and reduces our carbon footprint by not driving. Good for the planet.
