Reham's actions
At Home
Skip the Dryer Sheets
I will replace dryer sheets with a reusable alternative or use nothing at all.
Plastics 101
Know the Numbers
The numbers #1-7 on plastics tell us a lot and can help us be better recyclers. I will learn more about what the symbols on plastics mean.
At Home
Ditch the Disposable Cleaning Wipes
I will replace my disposable cleaning wipes with a reusable brush or cloth.
On-the-go
Skip the Straw
I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
On-the-go
Use A Reusable Mug or Cup
I will avoid sending 2 disposable cup(s) to the landfill per day by using a reusable mug or bringing my own collapsible cup.
Food
Stop Buying Water
I will stop buying water and instead use water from the tap or invest in a water filter if water quality is a concern.
At Home
Extend the Life of Electronics
Manufacturers want you to replace your phones every year. I will keep my phone for at least 3 years and make any necessary repairs or updates to keep it functioning as long as possible.

Reham Kassab 2/04/2026 6:59 PMBefore knowing about the plastic-free challenge, I thought that the small acts I did toward helping the environment didn't do much to make a difference. Now, I'm optimistic after seeing that many of us are making sustainable choices in our lifestyles that helps us create a large and positive impact together! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAt HomeHow have you modified your cleaning routine to make sure you aren't using disposable wipes? Are you satisfied with the results?
Reham Kassab 2/04/2026 6:24 PMInstead of using disposable wipes for cleaning, I have been using a clean, reusable cloth with soap or other cleaning supplies I have. I'm pretty satisfied with the results because I noticed that wipes seem to damage wood sealants so I'm glad I caught that early on. On a side note, I didn't know that the wipes themselves were made of plastic, so that came to be quite a surprise! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodWhat are the hardest scenarios for you to avoid using bottled water? How have you been able to avoid purchasing water in these situations?
Reham Kassab 2/01/2026 12:16 PMThe hardest scenarios for me to avoid bottled water is when I'm somewhere other than my house and get thirsty so I'm put in a situation where I buy from a vending machine or store refrigerator. I've actually stopped buying bottled water and instead carry around a stainless-steel water bottle and find it to be very convenient. It holds a lot of water, it stays cool for long periods of time, and keeps me well hydrated. -
Reham Kassab 1/20/2026 9:27 PMI've been reading a little more about the different numbers on plastic. I thought recycling was simply 3 categories: metal, plastics, and paper/cardboard. I never realized that there were in fact numbers on said plastics and that they meant different things when recycling them. -
Reham Kassab 1/19/2026 5:43 PMHi everyone! I'm excited to start this challenge and changing my habits for the better. Today instead of using disposable wipes to clean the table, I used a cloth instead. I will try doing this more often!
