At Home
Ditch the Disposable Cleaning Wipes
I will replace my disposable cleaning wipes with a reusable brush or cloth.
At Home
REUSE TRASH BAGS BEFORE PURCHASING NEW
I will reuse existing bags such as pet food bags, grocery bags, or online shopping bags to line my trash bins (or go without plastic liners) and offset using as many new bags as possible.
At Home
Skip the Dryer Sheets
I will replace dryer sheets with a reusable alternative or use nothing at all.
Food
Shop the Bulk Bins
Each trip to the grocery store I will purchase 3 products from the bulk section using my own containers.
At Home
Plan a Garden
I will plan an herb or vegetable garden for next year at my home, workplace, or community garden.
Food
Stop Buying Water
I will stop buying water and instead use water from the tap or invest in a water filter if water quality is a concern.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAt HomeBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Christine Petersen 2/13/2026 8:15 AMMy garden can improve the soil, so my edible plants are even healthier. Some of these plants will provide food for pollinators, and being outdoors is good for my physical and mental health. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAt HomeWhat are some of the challenges or benefits you have experienced using reused bags instead of a bag purposely designed to hold trash?
Christine Petersen 2/09/2026 8:38 AMGetting my family to remember to do this, too. It will just take some practice and reminders.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow has buying bulk impacted the quality of the food you receive? Why do you think our society relies more on prepackaged foods rather than buying in bulk?
Christine Petersen 2/05/2026 8:12 AMI have to buy less each time, I think, to feel confident it's fresh. But that is doable, since I try to buy groceries several times a week with just what I plan to eat in mind. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAt HomeHow difficult (or easy!) has it been for you to cut dryer sheets from your laundry routine?
Christine Petersen 2/05/2026 8:11 AMThis was an easy one - I'd been trying to get my family to do it previously.
