Pick Up Plastic Litter
I will pick up 1 piece(s) of plastic litter each day and dispose of it responsibly.
Plastics 101
Know the Numbers
The numbers #1-7 on plastics tell us a lot and can help us be better recyclers. I will learn more about what the symbols on plastics mean.
On-the-go
Skip the Straw
I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.
Plastics 101
Read Plastic-Free Challenge emails
I will read through the three emails each week to learn more about plastic and get ideas on how to use less.
On-the-go
Refill travel toiletries
If traveling, I will reuse my old travel tubes to refill with my soaps or only bring bar soaps with me
On-the-go
Pack a Lunch
I will skip eating out and bring a lunch from home in reusable containers.
On-the-go
Visit a packaging-free store
I will visit a co-op or zero waste store to check out my local options for bulk products and plastic-free items.
Plastics 101
Read a book on plastics
I will learn more about the issues with plastics by picking up one of the books recommended by Hennepin County Library.
On-the-go
Use A Reusable Mug or Cup
I will avoid sending 3 disposable cup(s) to the landfill per day by using a reusable mug or bringing my own collapsible cup.
Personal Care
Purchase Alternative Toothpaste
I will purchase toothpaste powder or toothpaste tabs in plastic-free packaging.

Jeff Riegle 2/09/2026 9:56 AMI go walking with my buddy, a mortgage broker referral partner of mine, every Friday morning. We usually do 4-6miles. This time we started at the 36 bridge (took 1 of 5 of my mini-dachshund along), and then came back over the lift bridge. Found a couple of pieces in the snow, and took them home to recycle. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONOn-the-goGreat job on getting rid of your disposable cup habit! How does it make you feel? Are there any situations where you still struggle to use a reusable mug?
Jeff Riegle 2/04/2026 8:24 AMI love using my reusable mug, it's also a great conversation starter! It doesn't fit in my car well, but it's great for around the office! -
