Personal Care
Switch to a natural loofah or wash cloth
I will replace my synthetic loofah with a natural loofah or wash cloth.
At Home
Shop Used
I will buy secondhand goods to reduce the demand for new plastic products and avoid packaging.
At Home
Make Green Cleaners
I will make 1 of my own cleaning products (cleaners, detergents, soaps) instead of buying them in new spray bottles each time.
At Home
Ditch the Disposable Cleaning Wipes
I will replace my disposable cleaning wipes with a reusable brush or cloth.
Plastics 101
Recycle Plastic Bags
Instead of trashing them, I will recycle 5 plastic bags per day bringing them to a drop-off or special pickup
Plastics 101
Avoid Harmful Plastics
I will avoid buying toxic plastics, including polyvinyl, polystyrene and polycarbonate (#3,#6 and #7).
Plastics 101
Read Plastic-Free Challenge emails
I will read through the three emails each week to learn more about plastic and get ideas on how to use less.
Plastics 101
Learn about bio-based, biodegradable and compostable plastic
I will learn about what different descriptions and marketing terms mean when used on plastics.
Plastics 101
Know the Numbers
The numbers #1-7 on plastics tell us a lot and can help us be better recyclers. I will learn more about what the symbols on plastics mean.
On-the-go
Use A Reusable Mug or Cup
I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill per day by using a reusable mug or bringing my own collapsible cup.

Charles Schaller 2/27/2026 6:46 AMI read today's plastic challenge email about picking up litter from the side of the road. It made me excited to work for Wagner who donates employee time every year to contribute to picking up litter from the side of Hwy 101 between Rogers and Otsego through the Adopt a Highway program. I got a chance to participate in the event this year, and it was a lot of fun to get out there with the team and do an event together where we cleaned up the environment around where we work and play. Wagner rocks! -
Charles Schaller 2/26/2026 7:37 AMI love using the bar shampoo and conditioner. I know it sounds weird if you haven't used it before, but it works surprisingly well, and the type we got smells great too!-

Charles Schaller 2/25/2026 8:48 AMMy son was really thirsty and wanted to stop to get a drink from the gas station. I told him that he'd have to "take one for the team" and drink some water when we got home (which was only a few minutes away). We kept driving, and long story short--He made it--he didn't die of thirst like he thought he would. He drank water from a glass like a hero when we got home. I'm so proud of that kid.-
Charles Schaller 2/26/2026 5:44 AMThanks Mark! He has the stomach flu now, and ironically, I'm trying to get him to drink water, so I'm feeling a little guilty about this post... It wasn't like I was trying to dehydrate him in the moment. Life is so ironic sometimes...ugh. At least he's drinking from a glass at home now. -

Charles Schaller 2/25/2026 8:34 AMAfter reading this morning's plastic-free challenge email about cleaning products, I see there is mention of using a steamer instead of cleaning liquids. I use a Wagner 915E steamer to clean my bathroom and floors. It is a tremendous value for a great price. It is incredibly easy to clean the shower and sinks. It just melts the soap scum off the walls (with NO cleaners) and disinfects at the same time! Then I use a cloth to wipe up the remainder of everything else with no effort whatever, and boom--it literally looks like new. I've used it to get stickers off the dishwasher, fridge and from inside the minivan that my kids put there (they love stickers)--way better than using goof-off (or something similar), and it doesn't smell. I've also used it to clean stains out of furniture. This thing is super simple, effective and versatile--I love it. -
Charles Schaller 2/23/2026 5:42 AMEasy there Monday...just take it nice and easy. A hot cup of coffee in a ceramic mug on a bitterly cold Minnesota Monday morning is a thing of beauty. -
Charles Schaller 2/20/2026 6:45 AMHappy Friday! Good job to everyone for reducing your plastics and keep it up this weekend. -
Charles Schaller 2/19/2026 1:27 PMUsed a reusable container for my lunch today, and I'm feeling pretty good about that. -
Charles Schaller 2/18/2026 11:48 AMWay to go everyone! Keep up the good work!-
