Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    On-the-go
Great job on getting rid of your disposable cup habit! How does it make you feel? Are there any situations where you still struggle to use a reusable mug?

    • 22-DAY STREAK
When going out to grab a coffee or drink, not all locations allow you to use reusable cups due to health code. Asking for it prepared in a "to stay" washable cup and pouring it into your reusable "to go" container does the trick!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    On-the-go
Can you think of any scenarios where using your own bottle is harder? How can you make sure not to get a disposable bottle in that case?

On the go it's hard to always be prepared! Keeping a spare water bottle in your car / purse / backpack has come in handy. And they make collapsable ones for packability!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community
How else can you advocate for businesses to reduce their plastic use?

    • 22-DAY STREAK
I created a social media post about MNimize for awareness. I also plan to go to a local restaurant close to me (Med Box) that is a participant of the MNimize campaign.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
Do an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some low-waste or reusable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable? Are there any items where it would be difficult to avoid plastic waste?

Currently, my only single use plastic in my kitchen are ziploc freezer bags. I have been exploring options to replace those! There are multi-use silicone bags, but they are fairly costly, so I have been buying them up slowly.
