Food
Make Your Own
I will try a new recipe or food preparation method, such as canning, pickling, making yogurt, or baking granola bars or bread.
Plastics 101
Recycle Plastic Bags
Instead of trashing them, I will recycle 2 plastic bags per day bringing them to a drop-off or special pickup
At Home
Skip the Dryer Sheets
I will replace dryer sheets with a reusable alternative or use nothing at all.
On-the-go
Use Reusables at Work
I will use reusable dishes and silverware when eating at work.
On-the-go
Recycle at Work
I will recycle my plastic containers at work, and if I can't find a recycling bin I'll bring the item home with me.
Plastics 101
One Room Plastic Audit
Pick one room in your house and determine at least one thing you can switch out in that room from plastic based to plastic free. Report your work in daily reflections.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFoodHow do you feel about being more involved in the food preparation process? Joyful, overwhelmed, engaged, empowered? What are the benefits of choosing to process or produce your own food instead of buying it pre-processed?
Sandra Stanton 2/10/2025 10:38 AMMade homemade granola. My kids eat it plain as a snack, I eat it with yogurt. Like most homemade items, it's delicious and totally customizable - just make sure the dry and wet ingredient ratios stand. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAt HomeHow difficult (or easy!) has it been for you to cut dryer sheets from your laundry routine?
Sandra Stanton 2/03/2025 9:56 AMPretty easy, while things do stick together, there's nothing like that smell of ozone as you pull them apart! Better yet, fold your laundry in the dark and make your own light show.-

- 16-DAY STREAK
Some folks use wool balls for the dryer. I just don't use anything and find nothing is needed. It's just some static electricity. Ditched the dryer sheets decades ago as all they are is plastic and chemicals.

REFLECTION QUESTIONOn-the-goDoes your workplace have a good recycling program? What could be improved?
Sandra Stanton 2/03/2025 9:33 AMThere are recycling containers on our floor. Minneapolis is a decent location for pushing merchants to use cardboard instead of plastic. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONOn-the-goWhat has been the easiest thing about using reusables at work, and what has been the hardest? Have you convinced any of your colleagues to join you in using reusables?
Sandra Stanton 2/03/2025 9:31 AMEasiest is my work location provides a sink and washing liquid. Hardest is we can't store anything at work, so all our personal items have to fit in our backpack.-
