February 29 at 10:49 AMI joined halfway through the month and wasn't super active, but, this has had an impact on me, so thank you for letting me join the team! I used to be *much* more attuned to using less plastic and finding better alternatives. Having children, the pandemic, and inertia put the kibosh on a lot of my behaviors. I've added some back to my routine,...

February 29 at 10:42 AMI used to do this all the time, but haven't in awhile. One reason is that a lot of products were left in our house when we moved in a bit over a year ago, and I've just been using them since they were free/available. But, many are running low. Back to making my everyday cleaning spray and disinfectant on my own.

February 29 at 9:36 AMStyrofoam is just so damn useful. It protects really well when used for packaging and its cheap. To move away from it we need to create an alternative that's just as cheap

February 29 at 7:41 AMI really enjoyed the challenge this year! It's great to see so many people participating and learning together. It gave me a good sense of focus for specific steps in an overwhelming issue, and it gave me the push I needed to try making a bunch of my own food from scratch. Thanks everyone!

February 29 at 7:19 AMIt easier than it seems like it will be! It's best to prepare your talking points. Usually you get a staff person who takes note of what you're calling about to share with your representative, but it's not like you have to debate or take a quiz on the phone. :) As someone who's afraid of phone calls, it's never as bad as I fear!

February 29 at 7:18 AMToday's the last day of the challenge. It has inspired not only the actions we have taken, but the act of writing about our experiences, modeling and other ways of helping others be aware of their plastic use without directly shaming. I'm guessing there will be a lot of time spent reflecting on where to go from here, but meanwhile, our everyday...

February 29 at 7:00 AMThe benefits seem abundant, ranging from better quality and longevity to less pollutants in the laundry. It's hard to know when something is a natural fiber AND ethically made. It's also just astonishingly hard to find anything that is 100% natural fibers. Even things marketed as wool have quite a bit of other synthetics mixed in (thinking...

February 29 at 6:57 AMIt's pretty easy to find kitchen ware used: e.g. glass baking dish to replace a deteriorated non-stick (PFAS!) baking pan. My husband and I are renovating our house, and we find a lot of the materials (hardwood floor, tools, light fixtures, etc.) used on Facebook marketplace. Clothing is hit or miss. I just found a store that sells surplus and...

February 28 at 9:30 PMI don’t find this everywhere but when I do, it’s my go to beverage!
