This one is hard for us, we have more laundry but it is nice knowing that the disposable wipes are staying out of the landfills.

The effort to reduce the amount of plastic in my life will always be a challenge. I have made changes in many areas to limit plastic. Sometimes it feels overwhelming if I think about it too much. With enough small steps and many of us working together, we can make a difference!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Plastics 101
What are some things you can do to avoid using plastic bottles and plastic caps in the first place?

I will try to not buy single serve water bottles, using reusable bottles instead. It's a bit harder with distilled water and milk cartons. I will attach the bottle top to the cartons each time and trust it is recycled.

You could buy the five-gallon container of water and buy a small pump and use it instead of single use water bottles.

I am curious to hear if anyone has developed new plastic-free habits throughout the course of the challenge. For me, I have significantly reduced the amount of plastic bags I use and have switched to reusable bags!

Plastic bags are definitely a big one for us. If we cant use reusable bags we have been at least more creative on how we can reuse them.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food
How do you feel about being more involved in the food preparation process? Joyful, overwhelmed, engaged, empowered? What are the benefits of choosing to process or produce your own food instead of buying it pre-processed?

We love making homemade food. Its always healthier and tastes better! But I'm not going to lie, doing the food prep is extremely overwhelming when a toddler wants to help. lol

I find food preparation to be a very peaceful grounding experience (if there are not too many cooks in the kitchen!)

In what ways is diapering your child with cloth diapers better for your child, better for you, and better for the environment?

It makes me feel a lot better using cloth diapers that we are keeping our son safe from some of the chemicals that are in disposable diapers and helping the environment.

Good for you!!! We were a fluff-butt family too! Loved it! I mean, it was a lot of laundry, but we never had to run out and buy diapers and it felt so good to keep thousands of diapers out of the landfill!

This was one of the easiest change for us. We love the wool dryer balls. After the change we also noticed that my sons skin has been less irritated.
