From seeing my mom take on gardening in the last few years, I've seen a few of the benefits. She had excess vegetables that she stored in "the store" (the solarium/basement) and she would just go "shopping" there instead of making a run to the store. It's very hard not to use a plastic baggie when freezing bulk ground beef. Coincidentally right before the challenge we had just bought bulk freezer baggies. We have a long way before we use them all up, but once we get closer to the end of them, I'll be looking for neoplastic, or at least more reusable alternatives.

Thank you for the fun challenge it has been eye opening. This has also allowed me to rethink some of my buying choices and how I will help the environment going forward.

I think I will be starting my seeds this weekend. I will be using the old newspapers and cardboard egg cartons to start the seedlings. I will get the grandkids involved so they can take pride in their garden.

The plastic challenge was a fun activity. It will be fun to see how this impact shows up next year if we do the challenge. Will we be doing better or did we fall into our old habits?

Going forward I will be more aware of the chemicals and plastics I bring into my home. This has been a very educational experience for me. Good luck to everyone in keeping up with the plastic free challenge after this is over.

The plastic bags will be an easy task, by reusing our reuseable bags. It will be fun to see if all stores will be like Target and get us five cents off for each bag we bring into the store.

This gum challenge was the hardest to figure out. It will be fun to figure out if the FDA will make a change.
